StoneCrest Kicks off Hospital Week with Fundraiser for Boys & Girls Club

May 11, 2009 - Since 1921, National Hospital Week is celebrated across the country. Originally began as a way to educate the public about hospitals, it is now a highly anticipated week to celebrate the individual’s contributions to healthcare.

Since StoneCrest Medical Center opened its doors in 2003, National Hospital Week has been cause for celebration. Combining with Nurse’s Week, activities are scheduled every day with a focus on saying “thank you” to the staff and the community.

This year, the Employee Advisory Group (EAG) selected the Rutherford County Boys & Girls Club as the recipient of fundraising dollars, with the proceeds earmarked for the Now More Than Ever campaign.  The Now More Than Ever campaign is raising money to build a new building for the Smyrna Club.

“We wanted to expand our campaign this year to maximize the donation we could give to the Boys & Girls Club, so in addition to the bake sale and parking space raffle, we decided to auction off themed baskets as well.” stated Megan Cool, Assistant Controller with StoneCrest Medical Center and EAG member co-leading the event.

Each department in the hospital donated a basket with a different theme ranging from gardening to photography and even summer fun themed basket with Keith Urban concert tickets.  Patients, family, physicians and staff all have an opportunity to bid on the baskets.

“This is my first Hospital Week at StoneCrest and giving back to the community is a huge part not only of this week but everyday.  I am really impressed with the level of planning and quality of these baskets.  The first thing I learned day one is that when StoneCrest does something, we do it right!” stated Mark Sims, Chief Executive Officer with StoneCrest Medical Center.

Baskets are available for bids up until Thursday, May 14th at 5:00 pm.  Winners will be announced Friday, May 15th after the Campus Clean Up event at 2:00 pm.
